Second child dies after ‘poisoned Easter eggs’ sent to family

A second child has tragically passed away following an incident in which a Brazilian woman reportedly dispatched poisoned Easter eggs to the new partner of her ex-boyfriend as an act of vengeance. Mirian Lira received the chocolates accompanied by a note that stated, ‘With love, to Mirian Lira. Happy Easter,’ and subsequently shared them with her two children.

Luis, her seven-year-old son, tragically passed away on April 17 after falling gravely ill. At that time, Mirian and her thirteen-year-old daughter, Evelyn, were already hospitalized and began exhibiting symptoms of poisoning. Evelyn succumbed to multiple organ failure on April 21. Authorities apprehended Jordélia Pereira Barbosa, the former girlfriend of the children’s father, after surveillance footage revealed her purchasing the chocolates while disguised with a wig. Investigators believe that jealousy and revenge may have driven her actions. Mirian is currently hospitalized but is reported to be in stable condition.
