A Policewoman Breastfed a Baby Who Had Been Hungry for 2 Days After the D-eadly Hurricane

In the wake of a catastrophic hurricane, a woman demonstrated extraordinary compassion. Officer Arisbeth Dionisio could not remain passive upon witnessing a starving infant and chose to assist by breastfeeding the child. This poignant gesture not only rescued the baby but also emerged as a representation of genuine heroism and humanity during a difficult period for everyone.

A devastating hurricane struck the region, causing significant hardships for the residents.

Recently, Hurricane Otis made a devastating landfall in Acapulco. Arizbeth Dionisio Ambrosio, a police officer from Mexico, was performing her duties in the severely affected resort city. She was clearing away debris, including fallen structures, trees, light poles, and vehicles that had been entirely swept away by the storm. Suddenly, she heard the cries of a baby.

Subsequently, Arizbeth was confronted by the child’s mother, who was in a state of hysteria and exhibited clear signs of panic. The woman conveyed to Arizbeth that her 4-month-old infant had not eaten for two days. The child had gone without a meal as his mother was experiencing significant difficulties in obtaining baby food for him.

The police officer took action and performed a remarkable feat for the infant.

Ambrosio, 33, was among the numerous police officers deployed to assist individuals who had nearly lost everything due to the devastating storm. As a mother of two, she empathized deeply with every child affected by the catastrophic hurricane, feeling their pain as if it were her own.

Upon encountering a woman with an infant, she directed her attention primarily towards the child’s immediate needs. She promptly inquired of the child’s presumed mother or aunt how assistance could be provided. Fortunately, Arizbeth was nursing her own baby at that moment, and upon learning that the infant was hungry, she readily offered to feed the stranger’s child without any hesitation.

The woman, who was with the infant, readily accepted the police officer’s proposal. Once she laid the nearly four-month-old baby on Arizbeth’s body, the infant ceased crying and appeared content due to the physical contact and nourishment.

Arizbeth’s kindness was completely genuine and stemmed from the depths of her heart.

Ambrosio is part of a distinguished organization in Mexico City that focuses on search and rescue operations. Her team, known as ‘Zorros’, consists of 100 agents who were deployed during the storm in Acapulco, classified as a Category 5 hurricane. Numerous individuals remained unaccounted for following the storm, and many others experienced the devastating effects of the hurricane.

Members of the military and volunteers dedicated several days to clearing debris in the Acapulco region. Amidst these dire circumstances, a police officer caring for a malnourished infant appeared as a beacon of hope for all.

The police officer was so engrossed in breastfeeding the young boy that she failed to inquire further details from the family. She was unaware of his name or their precise location prior to the hurricane’s impact.

The police officer received recognition for her exceptionally compassionate nature.

Dionisio, a mother of a one-year-old, was promoted in acknowledgment of her compassionate actions, advancing her position from ‘Exemplary Police’ to ‘Sub-officer.’

In recognition of her commitment to serving the public and upholding the reputation of the Ministry of Civil Security of Mexico City, my colleague Arisbeth Dionisio Ambrosio from the Zorros group, who safeguarded the life of an infant in Acapulco, has received a promotion in rank,” stated Mexico City’s Security Minister Pablo Vázquez Camacho on the social media platform X on Monday. “Her actions serve as a model of compassion for all,” he further remarked.

Following her promotion, Dionisio felt a sense of fulfillment in having assisted the child and his mother during their difficult time. She modestly referred to her act of kindness as minor when juxtaposed with the significant devastation wrought by Otis.

Dionisio expressed, “My contributions were minimal; we have the potential to achieve significantly more. If it were possible, I would return… simply to witness the child once more.”
