Tears Fall as Blake Shelton Sings ‘God Gave Me You’ to Terminally Ill 12-Year-Old in a Moment That Silenced the Room

In March 2025, country music artist Blake Shelton temporarily halted his Friends & Heroes tour to fulfill the last wish of 12-year-old Emily Harper, a leukemia patient at the Jimmy Everest Center in Oklahoma. Her aspiration was to listen to Shelton perform her beloved song, ‘God Gave Me You.’

On March 10, Shelton entered her hospital room with his guitar and delivered a heartfelt acoustic performance featuring songs such as ‘Austin’ and ‘Honey Bee,’ evoking both smiles and tears from all in attendance. Emily, holding a bear named in his honor, radiated happiness.

Shelton has a track record of sincere acts of kindness and advocates for initiatives such as cancer research, disaster relief, and music education.

Emily passed away ten days later. While performing in Greensboro, Shelton dedicated the song ‘God Gave Me You’ to her, stating, ‘She is no longer with us, but I am certain she is up there listening.’

His presence provided Emily and her family with a moment of joy, affection, and enduring solace.
