A pointed comment from the commander-in-chief directed at the global pop icon has ignited a flurry of responses online.
On May 16, 2025, President Donald Trump incited controversy after making a provocative remark about Taylor Swift on Truth Social. His statement has elicited reactions from various political and entertainment circles, particularly since he has referenced her previously.
Recently, the president utilized his social media platform to declare, “Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?’” This message rapidly spread around the globe.
This was not the first occasion on which Trump publicly conveyed his disapproval of the artist. On September 15, 2024, he shared the straightforward yet inflammatory message, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”
The timing of that post raised eyebrows, as it followed closely after Swift had publicly endorsed Trump’s rival, Kamala Harris, in the 2024 presidential election.
In a comprehensive Instagram post, Swift tackled the issue of political misinformation and expressed her intention to vote for Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, in November.
She condemned the dissemination of AI-generated content that falsely supported Trump and expressed her backing for causes she felt required “a warrior to champion them.” Additionally, she urged her fans to take action, reminding them to register to vote.
One individual remarked, “This post was completely unnecessary!!! Continue to accomplish remarkable things for the nation and cease the immature conduct!” while another inquired, “Why would you express this!!🤯” The astonishment persisted even on Facebook, with a viewer commenting, “This cannot be real, can it?!?”
This marks the second occasion this year that Donald Trump has publicly addressed Swift. In April, he alluded to the Super Bowl, during which Swift was featured on the large screen and seemingly received boos from some attendees. During a press conference, Trump questioned, “How did that turn out?” evidently referring to her waning popularity.
The brief booing at the Super Bowl, while momentary, generated significant buzz among internet users. As previously reported, Taylor Swift was present at the game on February 9, 2025, at the Superdome in New Orleans to support her partner, Travis Kelce.
In contrast to the previous year, when Swift was welcomed with applause, this time she faced loud boos when displayed on the stadium’s video screens during the first quarter.

Seated alongside rapper Ice Spice, the pop star seemed taken aback, casting a slight side-eye and scrunching her nose in reaction. Swift and Kelce have been a prominent sports-and-entertainment couple since last season, when Kelce first invited her to watch his games.

Nevertheless, numerous fans expressed confusion over the booing and came to Swift’s defense. One user noted, “Odd, considering she sold out that stadium three times over less than five months ago.”
Another commented, “She’s laughing because she’s worth more than everyone else in the stadium combined 😂.” Others questioned the rationale behind targeting Swift, with one fan stating, “I have never comprehended why they boo her. She’s j
Another individual remarked, “The anger is misdirected; all she is doing is sitting there. If you do not wish to see Taylor Swift in any football-related contexts, direct your concerns to the NFL, which has been capitalizing on her fame since the inception of her relationship [sic].”
Some reactions extended beyond merely defending Swift, as they criticized those who booed her. One user commented, “Can you believe booing Taylor Swift for …checks notes… simply existing and attending her boyfriend’s football game?”

Even tennis icon Serena Williams, who performed at the Halftime Show alongside Kendrick Lamar, tweeted, “I love you @taylorswift13, do not pay attention to those boos [sic]!!”
Whether indicative of celebrity fatigue at sporting events or another phenomenon, the boos directed at Taylor Swift during the 2025 Super Bowl, while she supported Kelce, highlighted the difficulties associated with fame.
