California To Sue Federal Government Over Senate Vote On EV Mandate

California intends to initiate legal action against the federal government following a Senate vote, spearheaded by Republicans, to rescind waivers from the Biden administration that permitted the state to prohibit gas-powered vehicles by the year 2035.

Governor Gavin Newsom and Attorney General Rob Bonta deemed the action unlawful and in violation of the constitution, pledging to uphold California’s emissions regulations in legal proceedings.

Democrats criticized the vote as a perilous precedent that jeopardizes environmental safeguards and regulatory consistency.

Republicans supported the decision, condemning California’s electric vehicle mandate as impractical and detrimental to consumer options and sectors such as agriculture.
