Republican Representative Tom Emmer was addressing attendees at a National Republican Congressional Committee dinner on Tuesday when he almost referred to President Trump in a derogatory manner. The Minnesota Republican faced significant ridicule after he nearly called President Donald Trump “President c*nt” before quickly correcting himself during his speech at the event.
As the House Majority Whip, Emmer made this gaffe in front of GOP donors who had contributed as much as $300,000 to participate in the dinner. House Republicans Campaign Chair Richard Hudson reported that the committee raised $35.2 million in the lead-up to the event. Emmer energetically entered the stage, attempting to engage the audience with an enthusiastic greeting. However, when the crowd did not respond as he anticipated, he insisted on trying again. Unfortunately, during this second attempt, he stumbled over his words, foreshadowing the blunder that followed.
